Flash Card Maker
Type your words or load a ready-made deck — and the backs come out mirrored, so the answer is behind the right card every time.
Skip the work, study now
Do not type a list we have already written. 78 ready-made decks — 7,178 cards across Spanish, the periodic table, times tables, anatomy, SAT roots and more — are live right now, playable in the browser. Flip through them to revise, or take one as a timed quiz and challenge a friend. The first 30 cards of every deck are free, and 30 of the decks are no longer than that, so they play free in full. No sign-up either way.

The double-sided problem, and why this fixes it
Print fronts on one side and backs on the other in the same order, and every answer lands on the wrong card. When the sheet flips on its long edge the columns mirror: the card at top-left comes out at top-right. So the back sheet here reverses each row. It is a one-line fix that nobody discovers until they have cut sixty cards apart, which is the point of no return — so it is on by default.
Print double-sided, flip on the long edge, and check one card before you cut the stack.
Generating a whole fact family
“All of multiplication through 12” is a sentence, not an afternoon. Set the tables from 1 to 12 and pair them with 0 to 12 and you have the complete table, in order, with no duplicates and no gaps. Subtraction is generated as the operation that undoes an addition fact and division as the one that undoes a multiplication fact, so the deck can never contain 3 ÷ 7 or an answer below zero.
Which size for which job
- 2 per page — extra large — Whole-class flashing from the front of the room.
- 4 per page — large — Small group work and pocket charts.
- 6 per page — standard — The usual choice. Fits a rubber band.
- 8 per page — compact — Fact decks and word rings.
- 9 per page — small — Big decks where paper matters.
The deck library — ready-made, and still yours to edit
Somebody already typed the 315 Dolch sight words, all 118 elements with their atomic numbers, the 195 world capitals and every form of the Spanish present tense. Open the deck library above, load one, and the cards land in the box on the left — from that moment it is your deck. Reword a definition, drop the twelve you do not teach, add your own, print it at two cards a page for the front of the room.
The first 30 cards of every deck load for nothing, so you can read the actual wording before you decide. The full deck is $1.29 as a printable on the store shelf, or $2.99 on the flash card shelf, which unlocks every card to play online and the printable PDF together. Browse every deck by subject.
Card counts on that page are the real ones. The alphabet deck is 78 because the alphabet is 26 letters in three forms; the presidents deck is 47 because there have been 47 presidencies. Nothing is padded out with filler to reach a rounder number.
Already-made decks
The Math Fact Flash Card Vault is addition and subtraction to 10 and multiplication and division to 12 — 530 cards, printed and paginated with the backs already mirrored — and it comes with all four of those decks unlocked in this maker, so every card is editable too. This maker stays free. More at teacher resources.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a library of ready-made decks?
Yes — 50 of them at $1.29 each, from the complete Dolch sight word list to all 118 elements, the 195 world capitals and Spanish present-tense conjugation. Every deck loads straight into this maker, so you can reword a card, delete the ones you do not teach, add your own, and print at any size. The first 20 cards of every deck load for free before you buy anything.
How do I print double-sided flash cards that line up?
Turn on "print answer backs" and the file adds a mirrored back sheet after each front sheet. When paper flips on the long edge the columns reverse, so a back page printed in the same order puts every answer on the wrong card — this reverses each row for you. Print double-sided, flip on the LONG edge, and cut.
Can it make all the multiplication facts at once?
Yes. Choose the fact deck, pick multiplication, and set both ranges — 1 to 12 by 0 to 12 gives you the whole table. Subtraction and division are generated from their inverses, so the deck never contains a negative answer or a remainder, and division by zero is skipped rather than printed.
How many flash cards fit on a page?
Two, four, six, eight or nine, and the type size steps with the density: 2-up is large enough to flash to a whole class from the front of the room, 6-up is the usual choice for a rubber-banded deck, and 9-up is for big decks where paper matters.
What separates the front from the back when I paste a list?
An equals sign, a tab, a colon, or a spaced dash — so "Photosynthesis = how plants make food" works, and so does a two-column paste from a spreadsheet. A line with no separator becomes a card with a blank back, which is exactly what a sight-word or spelling deck wants.
How many cards can I make at once?
Up to 240 in a single file, which is more than the whole multiplication table. Long definitions are automatically stepped down in size so a back face never overflows a card that cannot grow.
Is the flash card maker free?
Yes — every layout, every deck size, unlimited printing. Free PDFs carry a small QR code and credit line in the corner; a $2.99 day pass or Plus removes them and unlocks custom fonts and colours.
