How to use the solver
- 1. Type your first guess into the five boxes.
- 2. Click the small label under each letter until it matches the colour Wordle showed you — grey for absent, yellow for wrong position, green for correct.
- 3. Read the list of remaining words. The first ones are the guesses that will eliminate the most possibilities.
- 4. Add another guess row and repeat until one word is left.
The word list holds 2,339 five-letter words, built from every Wordle answer the New York Times has ever used plus common English five-letter words that have not come up yet.

How does this Wordle solver work?
Type each guess you have made, then click the tile under each letter to match the colour Wordle gave you — grey, yellow or green. The solver filters its word list down to every word that is still consistent with all of your clues and ranks them, best guess first.
Does it handle repeated letters correctly?
Yes. Repeated letters are where most Wordle solvers go wrong. If a letter comes back grey in one position but yellow or green elsewhere, that tells you the exact number of times it appears — not that it is absent. This solver applies that rule, so it will not discard the real answer.
How are the suggestions ranked?
By how much information each guess is likely to reveal. Words built from letters that are common among the remaining candidates — and that use five different letters — split the possibilities most evenly, so they appear first.
Why are some words shown in a dashed box?
Those have already been used as a Wordle answer in the past, which makes them less likely to be today's word. They are ranked lower rather than removed, because the New York Times has repeated answers before.
