About the Dictionary
These checks use ENABLE — a public-domain list of about 168,000 English words that Words With Friends builds on. It is very close to the official NASPA (North American) and Collins (international) tournament lists, but not identical: a handful of newer short words are valid in tournament play yet missing here. For friendly games ENABLE is the standard; for tournament play, confirm against your event's official list.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I check if a word is valid in Scrabble?
Type it into the checker above. It checks the word against the public-domain ENABLE list and shows whether it is playable along with its Scrabble and Words With Friends point values.
Is ENABLE the same as the official Scrabble dictionary?
Not exactly. ENABLE is the public-domain list Words With Friends builds on, and it is very close to the official NASPA and Collins tournament lists — but a handful of newer short words are valid in tournament play and missing here.
Does the checker show point values?
Yes. Every checked word shows its base score in both Scrabble and Words With Friends, plus a per-letter breakdown, before any board multipliers.
