Why each player gets two columns
Phase 10 has two things to track and both matter. The phase column shows which of the ten phases a player is attempting, because a player who fails a phase repeats it next hand. The score column holds the points left in their hand when someone goes out. Phases decide the winner; points only break ties, which is why the lowest score matters at the end.
Scoring a hand
When a player goes out, everyone else adds up the cards still in their hand: 5 points for each 1 through 9, 10 points for each 10, 11 and 12, 15 for a Skip and 25 for a Wild. The player who went out scores zero for that hand. Write the hand total in the score column and the phase each player will try next in the phase column.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the 10 phases?
1: two sets of 3. 2: one set of 3 and one run of 4. 3: one set of 4 and one run of 4. 4: a run of 7. 5: a run of 8. 6: a run of 9. 7: two sets of 4. 8: seven cards of one color. 9: a set of 5 and a set of 2. 10: a set of 5 and a set of 3.
How many hands does a game of Phase 10 take?
Usually 15 to 25, since most players miss a few phases. The sheet prints 16 rows by default; raise it if your group plays long games.
Is lowest or highest score better in Phase 10?
Lowest. Points are a penalty for cards left in your hand, and they only decide the game when two players complete Phase 10 in the same hand.
Printing tips
- Print a stack. Set Pages in PDF to 10 or 20 and keep a pad in the game box.
- Large print for easier reading. Bigger type and taller rows help older players and anyone scoring across the table.
- Landscape for big groups. With six or more players, landscape gives every column more room to write.
