Why the running total matters in Canasta
Your opening meld minimum depends on your score so far: 15 points while you're below zero, 50 up to 1,495, 90 up to 2,995 and 120 from 3,000. Keeping the running total in its own column means nobody has to add up the whole sheet before the first meld of each hand.
Scoring a hand
Put bonuses (canastas, going out and red 3s) in the Bonus column and the value of the cards you melded, minus any left in your hand, in the Cards column. Add both to the previous total.

Printing tips
- Print a stack. Set Pages in PDF to 10 or 20 and keep a pad in the game box.
- Large print for easier reading. Bigger type and taller rows help older players and anyone scoring across the table.
- Landscape for big groups. With six or more players, landscape gives every column more room to write.
