Halloween bingo that's right for school

Every square is a friendly Halloween word a young class can picture: pumpkins, black cats, owls, costumes, candy corn and a friendly ghost. There are no skeletons, zombies or gory pictures, so the cards suit a class party, an after-school club or a library program. The 40-item list means a whole class gets unique cards, and each card prints large on its own page with a free center square.

Running it at a class party

Print one card per student and keep the item list as your call sheet. Call words in any order, cross them off as you go, and check a winner's card against your list. Candy corn, cereal or paper squares make good markers. For pre-readers, switch to a 3×3 card, or read each word aloud and hold up a picture. A round takes about ten minutes, so it fits between the costume parade and snack time.
