Circles rather than squares
Fuse beads and diamond-painting drills are round, and colouring round cells gives a far more accurate preview of the finished piece than filling in squares. The gaps between circles read the way the gaps between beads do, so a design that looks right on paper looks right when built — particularly for diagonal lines and curves, which are where square-grid charting misleads most.
Matching your pegboard
The standard square perler pegboard is 29×29 pegs. Set the grid size so that many cells fit your page, or design across multiple sheets for larger pieces that span several boards. The heavy line every ten cells makes counting to a specific peg quick, and helps you keep alignment when a design crosses a board boundary.
Diamond painting
The same layout works for diamond painting design, where each circle is one round drill. Square-drill projects are better charted on ordinary cross stitch graph paper, since square drills butt up against each other with no visible gaps — the round-cell layout would misrepresent the coverage.

Printing Tips
- Print at 100% scale.Turn off “fit to page” and “shrink oversized pages” — otherwise your printer rescales the sheet and the measurements no longer match.
- Match the paper size. Choose the same size here as the paper in your tray. Printing a Letter PDF on A4 (or the reverse) scales it.
- Lighter lines print better. A light grey or blue guides your work without competing with it — and it uses far less ink.
- Use heavier paper for wet media. 100gsm and up for fountain pens and markers; standard copier paper is fine for pencil.
