The Reading Challenge bingo item list

Every card holds all 24 challenges in a shuffled order, so each reader gets the same challenge. There's nothing to call: readers cross off a square each time they finish one.

A reading log kids actually want to fill in

Instead of counting minutes, readers cross off a square for each challenge: read outside, read with a flashlight, read to a pet or toy, read a book with an animal hero. The mix nudges kids toward new kinds of books (poems, true stories, graphic novels, biographies) without telling them what to read.

Using it in a library or classroom

Print one card per reader. The list has exactly 24 challenges, so every card carries all of them, just in a different order, and no one gets an easier card. For a passive library program, set out a stack of cards with a sign and a return box: a line earns a sticker, a full card earns an entry in a prize drawing. Want one master copy to photocopy instead? Set Number of cards to 1.

Winter, summer or all year

It works as a winter reading challenge from December to January, a summer reading program or a month-long classroom challenge. Swap in your own challenges, like reading a book from the class library, in the generator.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does every reader get the same challenges?

Yes. The list has exactly 24 challenges and a 5×5 card has 24 squares plus a free center, so every card includes all 24. Only the order changes. If you add more challenges, each card gets a random 24 of them.

What age is the reading challenge for?

Roughly ages 6 to 11. Early readers can do most squares with a grown-up, and older kids can take on chapter books and biographies. For teens and adults, try Book Bingo for Adults.

Are the Reading Challenge bingo cards free to print?

Yes. Make and download Reading Challenge bingo cards free to print, right in your browser. Free PDFs carry a small footer credit; Premium removes it.

How many Reading Challenge bingo cards can I make?

Download up to 2 cards at a time free. Confirm your email once and you can print up to 60 unique cards in a single PDF. Each card prints large, on its own page. Every card is shuffled separately from the 24-item list.

Can I change the Reading Challenge bingo items?

Yes. Edit, add or remove any item in the generator, change the grid to 3×3, 4×4 or 5×5, and turn the free center space on or off before you print.
