Building real pages…
Print it once, put it in the drawer, and stop worrying about the day you wake up unable to teach. A full day of activity for grades K–2 that a substitute can hand out without knowing anything about your class, your unit, or where you keep the good scissors.
It opens with a fill-in-the-blank letter to the substitute — your name, the schedule, where things are, who to ask — so the packet explains itself. Everything after that is self-contained: no manipulatives, no prep, no technology, nothing that has to be read aloud.
Answers are on one page at the back. Kindergarten through second grade.

Questions
- What does the substitute need to do?
- Hand out pages. Nothing in the packet needs preparation, materials beyond a pencil, or subject knowledge — which is the whole point of an emergency packet.
- Do I have to fill anything in?
- Only the letter at the front, once. It has blanks for your name, the day's schedule, where supplies live, which student can be asked, and where to leave finished work. Fill it in, photocopy the packet, and it is ready for any day.
- Is it enough for a whole day?
- It is built for a full day of a class working at different speeds — which in practice means more pages than the fastest student will finish. That is deliberate; running out is worse than having spare.
- Can I copy it every year?
- Yes. The licence covers unlimited printing for your own classroom, with no yearly limit.
- Are the answers included?
- Yes, on one page at the back. Leave it in for the substitute, or fold it off before you copy.
