- Find rows or boxes with the most digits. Scan for any row, column, or 3×3 box that already has six or seven digits. Those are easiest to complete.
- Use elimination, not guessing. For each empty cell, eliminate digits that already appear in its row, column, or 3×3 box. Every puzzle has exactly one logical solution.
- Mark candidate digits in margins. When a cell has two or three possibilities, pencil them lightly in the corner. Updates as you fill more cells.
- Verify with the answer key. Once complete, compare every row, column, and box against the solution page.
