Daily Connections-Style — 2026-06-11

Difficulty: easy · Group 16 words into 4 categories of 4

Group 4 words that share a connection. 4 mistakes remaining.

How the daily Connections-style game works

The daily Connections-style puzzle presents a 4×4 grid containing 16 words. Hidden in that grid are four groups of four words. Each group shares a category — a theme, a wordplay link, or a common pattern. Your task is to identify and submit all four groups using only four mistakes.

Groups are color-coded by difficulty so you understand which guesses to be most confident about:

  • Yellow — the easiest group; the most obvious theme.
  • Green — a moderate-difficulty grouping.
  • Blue — harder; the theme is less direct.
  • Purple — the trickiest, often involving puns, homophones, or wordplay.

Tap or click to select exactly four words, then submit. A correct guess locks in that group. A wrong guess costs you one of your four mistakes. The puzzle ends when you either solve all four groups or use all four mistakes — and the remaining groups are revealed automatically.

Strategy tips for solving without mistakes

  1. Read every word first. Resist the urge to grab the first obvious group. Note which words could fit multiple themes — those are usually the misdirects.
  2. Hunt for the purple group early. Purple groups are designed to recolor your assumptions. If you find the wordplay link first, the other three groups often fall into place.
  3. Check for category overlap. If a word could plausibly fit two groups, see which group needs it more. A category with three obvious members will usually claim the fourth.
  4. Watch for partial-word themes. Common purple patterns include "words that follow ___", "words that precede ___", homophones, anagrams, or hidden short words.
  5. Be conservative with submissions. With only four mistakes, never submit a group you are not at least 90% sure about. If unsure, lock in a different group first to remove its words from the pool.
  6. Shuffle the grid. Rearranging the 16 words can break a mental rut and surface new groupings.

Today's difficulty: easy

Connections difficulty rotates daily on a fixed schedule. Monday and Thursday are easy days with direct, recognizable themes. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday are medium days that introduce one or two genuine misdirects. Friday and Saturday are hard days with a tricky purple group and more ambiguous overlaps between categories. Difficulty applies to theme subtlety and misdirect density — never to obscure vocabulary.

Frequently asked questions

What is the daily Connections-style game?
A free daily word puzzle where you sort 16 words into 4 hidden groups of 4. Each group shares a category, and you have to figure out which words belong together. You get 4 mistakes before the puzzle ends.
What do the four colors mean?
The four groups are color-coded by difficulty. Yellow is the easiest theme, green is moderate, blue is harder, and purple is the trickiest — often involving wordplay, puns, or a subtle pattern.
How often does the puzzle change?
Every day at 00:00 UTC. The same 16-word grid is shown to every visitor anywhere in the world for that calendar date.
What is the best strategy?
Look for obvious thematic links first, then identify the purple (hardest) group — finding the trickiest group early often reveals which words you assumed were in easier groups were actually misdirects. Be careful: the grid intentionally contains words that could plausibly fit multiple categories.
How is difficulty decided?
Each day's puzzle is one of three difficulties — easy, medium, or hard — on a fixed weekly schedule. Mondays and Thursdays are easy, Tuesdays/Wednesdays/Sundays are medium, and Fridays/Saturdays are hard.
Do I need an account?
No. The game runs entirely in your browser. Your streak, win count, and history are saved locally on your device. A free account is optional if you want to sync progress across devices.
