Can you name the money of 73 countries? Pick the right currency, or its three-letter code, in the Daily 10 or an endless three-lives streak.
What are the world's most traded currencies?
The US dollar (USD), euro (EUR), Japanese yen (JPY), British pound sterling (GBP) and Chinese renminbi (CNY) are among the most traded currencies in the world, with the US dollar on one side of most foreign-exchange trades. The quiz starts with these and works toward the ones that stump travelers, like the Paraguayan guaraní and the Lao kip.
Travel money tips the quiz will remind you of
Pay in the local currency. When a card machine abroad asks whether to charge you in dollars, choosing the local currency usually avoids a worse conversion rate.
Same name, different money. Mexico, Chile, Colombia and the Philippines all use a peso, but each is a different currency with a different value.
Not all of Europe uses the euro. Switzerland, the UK, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Poland, Czechia and Hungary keep their own.
Check card fees. Many cards add a foreign transaction fee to every purchase abroad; others charge none.
