Sized so each one divides a US Letter sheet cleanly, with no orphan strip to trim twice.

Desk name plate, 7.5″ × 2.4″ — tapes across the front edge of a desk, 4 per sheet.

Why “editable” usually means more work, not less

Almost every editable desk name tag on the marketplaces is a Canva template. You buy a file, create a free Canva account, open the template, and type thirty names into thirty text boxes. That is a generator with the generator missing, and it is why the same listing gets bought again the following August.

A roster paste does the same job in about fifteen seconds, handles a gradebook's “Last, First” export by flipping it, and works again next year on next year's list without reopening anything.

Printing, cutting and making them last

Print at 100% scale rather than “fit to page”, or the cut guides will not land where the measurements say. Card stock rather than paper is the single biggest difference to how long a desk plate survives; laminating roughly triples it again.

Tape a desk plate along its long edge only, so a child can lift it to look underneath — that is where the alphabet strip earns its place. For cubby and book bin labels, a strip of clear packing tape over the top does most of what lamination does, for nothing.

How do I make printable desk name tags for my classroom?

Are these editable name tags?

They are generated rather than editable, which is the stronger version. Instead of typing into text boxes you supply the roster and the tags are built around it — so next August you paste next year's list and it does it again.

My class list is exported as “Last, First”. Does that work?

Yes. A line with a single comma is read as Last, First and flipped, so a gradebook export produces tags reading “Ava Smith” rather than “SMITH, AVA”. A second column separated by a tab becomes the tag's second line.

How many desk name tags fit on a page?

Four desk name plates, or three of the deeper plates with the handwriting line. Cubby labels are 12 to a sheet, book bin labels and badges 8, word wall cards 10, and supply labels 24.

Can I get the tags without typing any names?
